Most of the indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange started Tuesday-morning trading with modest gains. About an hour into the session, the TA Composite Index stood at 1,057.95, up .32 percent, while the TA 100 rose .33 percent to 1,066.98, including a .42-percent gain to 1,211.20 by the Maof 25 most-widely-invested issues. The 50 stocks just outside the TA 100 stood at 388.97, up .46 percent.
Leading the gainers was the communications and media index, which climbed 1.08 percent to 528.39, followed by the real-estate issues, which stood at 286.01, up nine tenths of a percent. The oil and natural-gas stocks rose .87 percent to 1,099.90 and most of the technology index stood at 343.58, up .81 percent, while the biomed issues edged up .09 percent to 769.25. The bank stocks stood at 1,100.56, up .48 percent as the financial institutions rose .31 percent to 992.83, including an advance of .27 percent to 1,070.83 by the insurance index.
