President Barack Obama called Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi on Monday amid efforts to broker
a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, the White House said.
During his conversation with the Egyptian president, Obama, who was in Cambodia on a three-nation tour in Southeast Asia, "underscored the necessity of Hamas ending rocket fire into Israel," a White House statement said.
"President Obama then called Prime Minister Netanyahu of Israel, and received an update on the situation in Gaza and Israel," the statement added.
