Sharansky: New Immigrants Also Under Fire

Jewish Agency Chairman Natan Sharansky, together with a delegation of leaders from the Jewish Federations of North America, visited the Ibim Absorption Center located in the Sha'ar HaNegev Regional Council, to strengthen Ethiopian immigrants who arrived in the country only a few weeks ago and are already facing a barrage of rocket attacks launched by terrorists in the Gaza Strip.

Approximately 240 immigrants arrived in Israel on October as part of Operation Dove’s Wings, a government initiative to speed up the place of aliyah and bring the remainder of the Falash Mura, members of the Ethiopian Jewish community who were forcibly converted to Christianity during the 19th and 20th centuries, to Israel.
