Gaza sources reported, Friday, that the visit of Egyptian Prime Minister Hisham Qandil to the Hamas-controlled area was cut short due to security considerations. The decision followed unconfirmed reports of an Israeli air strike in northern Gaza, which killed two people during his visit.
Earlier, Homefront Security Minister Avi Dichter said, "As long as the Egyptian prime minister is in Gaza, we'll maintain the quiet." He also said, "We are not running a military operation or attack against Egypt. There's no intent to endanger his life in any way. I suppose the IDF received the necessary instructions so that the Egyptian prime minister's life would not be endangered."
