Most of the indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange ended the trading week with modest to moderate losses in relatively light trading on Thursday. The TA Composite closed at 1,036.98, down .92 percent, while the TA 100 declined .85 percent to 1,045.13, including a .63-percent drop to 1,181.76 by the Maof 25 most-widely-invested issues. The 50 stocks just outside the TA 100 fell 1.94 percent to 382.73.
The worst-hit sector was the oil and natural-gas index, which finished the day at 1,042.91, down 1.92 percent, followed by the biomed issues, which declined 1.87 percent to 761.00, while the rest of the technology stocks closed at 338.96, down 1.45 percent. The real-estate index slumped 1.36 percent to 276.71, while the communications and media index finished the day at 512.51, down .84 percent. A 1.01-percent loss to 1,074.16 by the insurance issues was offset by a 1.12-percent gain to 1,064.69 on the part of the bank stocks to push the financial institutions up .06 percent to 974.30.
