Yisrael Liebman has responded to Professor Amir Hatzroni’s argument that large families are to blame for causing the housing crisis and other financial crises. Liebman, who heads the Mekimi organization to assist families facing financial crisis, told Arutz Sheva that in his experience the two things are not connected.
“It’s not math, but a fact of life. Someone’s financial situation is individual, and maybe that dovetails with beliefs regarding luck, or with the type of work you have,” he said. “But ultimately it’s not a function of the number of kids.”
He added, “In Bnei Brak, obviously, there are families with many kids in a tough financial situation, but they are those who chose to learn Torah and not work and that’s their choice.”
