Most of the major indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange recorded modest losses at the start of trading, Tuesday morning. About an hour into the session, the TA Composite Index stood at 1,048.19, down .47 percent, while the TA 100 declined .51 percent to 1,056.00, including a .39-percent drop to 1,194.79 by the Maof 25 most-widely-invested issues.
The communications and media stocks provided the bright spot, climbing 1.09 percent to 524.32, followed by most of the technology index, which stood at 343.07, up .14 percent, while the biomed issues declined .51 percent to 759.99. The same percentage loss meant a posting of 282.44 for the real-estate stocks. The oil and natural-gas index did slightly better, standing at 1,084.02, down half a percent. Worst hit were the insurance issues, which fell 1.36 percent to 1,058.86 as the financial institutions stood at 975.65, down .42 percent, including a .13-percent slip to 1,061.54 by the bank stocks.
