Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin addressed the situation in the Gaza area, this morning, during a speech to mark 56 years since the Sinai Campaign, known as Mivtza' Kadesh in Hebrew. He said, "Now, unlike the years right after the Sinai campaign, our enemies know that Israel is a fact. But the desire to wipe it off the map remains as it was."
Rivlin also said, "Whoever thinks that we have forgotten how to deal with protracted attrition, whoever thinks that we'll allow a quarter of the population to live in absolute living paralysis is sentencing himself to defeat. The election campaign will not affect our considerations and will not prevent us from going out on a widespread military operation. Anyone who thinks we are a virtual state will be forced to stand, every time, opposite our vitality, opposite the mental strength of the people of Israel, opposite the deep commitment of our soldiers to defend the citizens of Israel everywhere and to strive for victory."
