Insurance Break OKd for Cars with Life-Saving Devices

A joint panel of the Knesset Finance Committee and the Constitution, Law and Justice Committee approved, Monday, a discount on compulsory auto-insurance premiums for owners of cars with life-saving accessories. The devices that were approved were the ABS anti-lock braking system, the ESP electronic stability program, the FCW forward collision warning system and the LDW lateral-drift warning system.

The move, promoted by Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz, could save the motoring public 150 million shekels in premiums a year and act as an incentive to install the devices as a way of improving auto safety.
