Even before a rocket hit a residence in the western Negev city of Sderot, Sunday evening, Mayor David Buskila was asking for action against the terrorists in Gaza who were launching them. More than 80 had been launched against southern Israel since Saturday evening, more than 700 since January.
Public Safety Minister Yitzchak Aharonovitch said the terrorists, "will pay a heavy price. The time has come to put an end to the intolerable situation in which a million civilians are held hostage by Hamas." Buskila responded, "Such statements are not enough. We need action." He added that the lives of the people of Sderot and Gaza-envelope communities must not be dictated by terrorists."
