Syria's President Bashar al-Assad commented on the ongoing violence in his country, refusing to call the uprising a civil war, rather a new kind of war he called "terrorism through proxies."

He added that if foreign countries stop arming the rebels, "I can tell (you) that in weeks we can finish everything."
