MK Zeev Bielski (Kadima), who worked to pass a law which increases the punishment handed out to hit and run drivers for 14 years, commented on Friday afternoon about the accident in which a biker was killed on a highway leading down to the Dead Sea.
"The running over of the biker this morning, along with the multiple accidents that have occurred in recent months, require us to regroup and intensify the uncompromising struggle against the hit and run plague," said Bielski.
"We must not accept the current situation and I am hopeful that the courts will use the new law that we legislated last Knesset and impose the full penalty - 14 years imprisonment," he added.
