Strategic Affairs Minister Moshe Ya'alon reacted, Friday morning, to Thursday's landing of a Syrian mortar shell in a Golan Heights community by saying, "We see the Syrian regime as responsible for what happens along the border." Referring to opponents of President Bashar Al-Assad, the deputy prime minister said, "The other side received quite a few messages recently and has acted appropriately. I hope that, in this case, there will be someone who will take matters into their own hands in Syria."
The former chief of staff said, "This situation - where the Syrian army cannot defeat the opposition and the opposition cannot defeat the Syrian army - can take a long and bloody time. If it seems to be running down toward us, we will know how to protect the citizens of Israel and the sovereignty of the state of Israel."
