Holocaust Victims' Fund: We're Out of Money

More than 8,000 Holocaust survivors who did not file claims for medical compensation as of Thursday will not receive it because the Welfare Fund for Holocaust Victims is out of money. Elazar Stern, who chairs the fund, told Israel Defense Forces Radio, Friday that former prime minister Ehud Olmert was the last person to take a significant step on behalf of the survivors. The Treasury said that aid for the survivors has gone up noticeably in recent years, noting that in 2011, assistance in buying drugs was transferred to health funds, including discounted prices at pharmacies.
