It was recently made evident to Chief Rabbi Shlomo Amar that of 18 companies marketing green leafy vegetables, many use pesticides in excess, presenting a risk to consumers’ health. Rabbi Amar, along with Rabbi Elyakim Levanon and a team of ‘Kosharot’ experts have agreed to issue Kosher certificates only to companies providing insect-free vegetables grown with safe levels of pesticide.
