In an email to supporters, Ari Abramowitz, who has been Jeremy Gimpel's co-host in the Tuesday Night Live TV show and the LandofIsrael.com website, commented on Naftali Bennett's victory in the Jewish Home Party primaries. Gimpel is running for a slot in Tuesday's primary elections for party list. The primaries for party head and party list were held separately.
Commenting on the reported problems with voting booths Abramowitz stated, "bear in mind this is the party's first democratic primaries, and the number of people who registered far surpassed their wildest speculations."
He continued, "Naftali Bennett has been a friend for years, and as we have repeated throughout the campaign, he has many strengths and we look forward to serving alongside him in the Knesset, and projecting a new revitalizing message that will change this country - both on the inside and the outside. Additionally, Bennett's victory is a tremendous opportunity for us. There is now another slot open in the Knesset and we still have the largest independent voting block. According to Israel National News - only about 40% of the people came out to vote. Next week the estimation is that between 20%-30% will vote. In conclusion, this election is not about us, a sector, or a constituency. As Western Olim [immigrants to Israel] we represent a message - a voice - which is needed by both Israel and the world."
