Fighting was reported around noon on Monday between Syrian government forces and opponents of the Bashar Al-Assad regime near the border with Israel in the Golan Heights. Explosions were clearly heard throughout the region.
Israeli forces were instructed to raise their alert level. A number of sites were closed to traffic.
