Hundreds of people demonstrated, Sunday evening, outside the United States consulate in Jerusalem, to demand the release of Jonathan Pollard, who is serving a life sentence in a federal prison for passing classified documents to Israel. The demonstration was timed to coincide with the eve of the American presidential elections and the 27th anniversary, this month, of Pollard's arrest. He has served more time than others convicted of more serious espionage offenses.
Demonstrators blocked a street. One was detained for questioning.
