Abbas Clarifies: I Demand Right of Return

Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas told Israel’s Channel 2 news that he does not demand the right to live in the Israeli city of Tzfat, where his family lived prior to 1948, but quickly clarified in an interview with the Arab media that he still demands the “right of return.”

Abbas told an Egyptian television show that his statement regarding his own “right of return” to Tzfat was personal, but that he still supports other descendants of Arabs who fled pre-state Israel during the War of Independence in their demands to “return.”

“The right of return is a holy right, and nobody can take that right from them,” he declared.
