Olmert Trying to Attract Famous Candidates

Former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has looked into a number of well-known Israelis to see which would join him in running for Knesset on a new party list, Maariv reports. Among those reportedly considered are Professor Manuel Trajtenberg, former IDF Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi, Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai, former Israeli ambassador to the UN Danny Gillerman, and a number of MKs in the Kadima party.

If he does decide to run, Olmert’s number two party member would be Tzipi Livni, the former Kadima party number two who served as Foreign Minister under Olmert.
