22nd Anniversary of Murder of Rabbi Meir Kahane Marked

A memorial observance took place in Jerusalem, Thursday evening, to mark the 22nd anniversary of the murder of Rabbi Meir Kahane.

A great deal of the evening turned into a campaign against the Ichud Le'umi (National Union) and Habayit Hayehudi (Jewish Home-New National Religious Party), and calls were heard against efforts to unite the religious Zionist public to one Knesset ballot lineup. Activists of the Kach organization called on people to vote for the party led by Kahane disciple Michael Ben-Ari, who recently split from the Ichud Le'umi.

Director Bentzi Gopstein of the Lehava organization tore a picture of Knesset member Ahmed Tibi (Ra'am Ta'al United Arab List) while at the speaker's podium in response to Tibi's tearing of a picture of Rabbi Kahane in the Knesset.
