Most of the indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange closed out the trading week, Thursday, with modest gains in low-volume trading. The TA Composite Index finished the day at 1,073.50, up .54 percent, while the TA 100 rose .57 percent to 1,082.59, including a .45-percent increase to 1,219.71 by the Maof 25 most-widely-invested issues.
Most of the technology stocks led the gainers, climbing 1.75 percent to 344.12, while the biomed index declined .41 percent to 779.59. The insurance issues rose nine tenths of a percent to 1,074.18 as the financial institutions closed at 988.44, up three tenths of a percent, including a .34-percent advance to 1,089.78 by the bank stocks. The real-estate index advanced .78 percent to 286.58, followed by the communications and media issues at 516.11, up .67 percent. The Ma'ala organization's index of socially-responsible companies rose .83 percent to 836.97, while the oil and natural-gas stocks declined .87 percent to 1,116.53.
