Rabbi Amar Warns of Pesticides in Leafy Vegetables

Chief Sephardic Rabbi Shlomo Amar, head of the rabbinical court, issued a halakhic (Jewish law) ruling that calls on the public to be careful about buying "wormless" leafy vegetables that have not been inspected by the Health Ministry and carry a health risk.

The ruling was based on information brought to his attention by investigators and reliable laboratory managers that indicated the vegetables have been treated with banned pesticides or dosages above the standard permitted by the ministry.
