Member of Knesset Ofir Akunis (Likud Party) visited Hevron on Wednesday. "We need to continue to establish neighborhoods in Hebron and in all Judea and Samaria," Akunis said, adding that Hebron is historically the first capital of Israel dating back to the days of King David.
Akunis stated "we need to stand up for our rights... this is our country." He added that he believes the government should adopt the findings of the Levy Report which stipulates that Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria are totally legal under the Geneva Convention and all international laws. Located in the Judea region, most of Hevron is controlled by the Palestinian Authority following the Hebron Agreement of 1997.
