Member of Knesset Dr. Michael Ben-Ari has decided to retire from the "Our Land of Israel" faction and establish a new political movement. Joining him will be his Knesset aides Baruch Marzel and Itamar Ben Gvir.
The chairman of "Our Land of Israel" Rabbi Shalom Dov Wolpe, said he wished Dr. Ben-Ari success in his new endeavors. "Our movement calls for uniting all those who believe in saving the land of Israel and the Torah of Israel from the dangers facing us. In the coming days we will release a detailed message to the public," Rabbi Wolpe stated.
MK Ben-Ari has been in the forefront of advocating for Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria. He gained notoriety this year for ripping up a copy of the New Testament that Christian missionaries had mailed to every Knesset Member. He is currently a member of the National Union Party (Ichud Leumi) which is a conglomeration of four different religious and secular factions. MK Ben-Ari has expressed past interested in running in the January elections with fellow National Union MK Dr. Aryeh Eldad. The National Union recently announced their merger with the Jewish Home Party (Bayit Yehudi), something that MK Ben-Ari and MK Eldad feel would water down their Zionist message.
