Most of the major indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange opened Tuesday-morning trading with modest gains. About 15 minutes into the session, the TA Composite Index stood at 1,059.70, up .42 percent, while the TA 100 rose .45 percent to 1.068.32, including a .46-percent advance by the Maof 25 most-widely-invested issues.
The banks were the leading sector, rising .85 percent to 1,085.83, as the financial institutions stood at 982.54, up .49 percent, including a .17-percent rise to 1,047.89 by the insurance stocks. The real-estate index rose .52 percent to 282.47, while most of the technology issues stood at 335.07, up .44 percent, and the biomed issues advanced .31 percent to 776.43. The oil and natural-gas stocks stood at 1,118.49, up .42 percent, while the communications and media index rose .29 percent to 505.55.
