Report: Atmosphere of Fear for Ukrainian Jews

An atmosphere of fear prevails in the Ukrainian Jewish community, following the success of the anti-Semitic Svoboda party in recent elections, according to a Tuesday morning story by the Ma'ariv daily. Member of Knesset Alex Miller (Yisrael Beytenu), who monitored the elections with Knesset member Yuval Tzelner (Kadima), told the newspaper, "Concern is growing, among the Jews, of a wave of nationalism that will wash over the Ukraine. The feeling here is of a return to dark times of rising anti-Semitism, which was, in fact, suppressed in recent years. The revival of anti-Semitism in the Ukraine may also harm relations between the two countries."
