Security Institute to Hold Conference on Immigration

The Institute for National Security Studies (INSS) and the Metzilah Center of Zionist, Jewish, Liberal and Humanist Thought are scheduled to host a conference on Israel's immigration policy, Monday evening, at the INSS auditorium in the Ramat Aviv section of Tel Aviv. The conference relates to a position paper "A Strategy for Immigration Policy in Israel," written by Professors Shlomo Avineri, Liav Orgad and Amnon Rubinstein for Metzilah. Metzilah says the paper is the basis for a new comprehensive immigration law being drafted by the government.

Professor Rubinstein will discuss the paper. Among others participating in the conference will be Interior Minister Eli Yishai, Member of Knesset Meir Sheetrit, INSS director Amos Yadlin, INSS researcher Avichai Mandelblit - a former chief military advocat general of the Israel Defense Forces, Metzilah founding president Ruth Gavison and Michal Pinchuk from the Assaf organization for assisting refugees and asylum seekers in Israel.
