Senior Fatah official Tawfiq Tirawi told the Associated Press, Sunday, that Chairman Mahmoud Abbas of the Palestinian Authority will submit the PA's bid for an upgrade to "non-member state" status at the United Nations sometime during the month of November.

Tirawi said "We will go to the UN regardless of any threats. I expect the Israelis to take punitive measures against us if we win this status, but this is our choice and we will not retract it."
