Livni Expected to Announce Election Plans This Week

Former Kadima party leader Tzipi Livni will make an announcement, this week, regarding her political intentions, according to a Monday-morning report by the Yisrael Hayom daily. In private conversations, held in the past few days, Livni revealed a dream of Defense Minister Ehud Barak and former defense minister Shaul Mofaz without the rest of Kadima, although she has expressed an interest in Kadima Knesset members Shlomo Molla and Yoel Hasson. She is also interested in Minister Dan Meridor, should he leave the Likud, and Professor Manuel Trajtenberg, who chaired the government's committee on socio-economic change.

Livni has been expected to make an announcement for some time, including Sunday evening, when she criticized the recent union of the Likud and Yisrael Beytenu lists in the January election. Lea Padida, who led a delegation of Labor party women to meet with Livni, told Arutz Sheva on Sunday that she expects the former opposition leader to join Labor.
