Yom Kippur War: Chief of Staff Worried about Morale

Chief of Staff David "Dado" Elazar tried to give media more optimistic information than was presented in military forums, according to testimony released by the military, Sunday, from the Agranat Commission on Israel Defense Forces failures during the Yom Kippur War of 1973. He told the commission he was motivated by reasons of public morale. Elazar, who was forced to resign and died about two-and-a-half years after the war, was criticized for saying, "We'll break their bones."
