Vice Prime Minister Moshe Yaalon (Likud) welcomed on Friday the union between his party and the Yisrael Beytenu party, saying that the move will improve the ability to govern.

In an interview with Kol Yisrael radio, Minister Yaalon said that the challenges facing the State of Israel need to be addressed, and the way to do this is in a coalition based on larger blocs, rather than several parties. He expressed hope that other parties will also meet the challenge.

Yaalon added that he believed the Labor Party is the only alternative to the Likud that is left on the political map.
