Volunteers from the Ichud Hatzalah organization, including doctors and paramedics, were deployed starting on Thursday afternoon at Rachel's Tomb, for the annual pilgrimage that takes place on the anniversary of the Biblical mother’s passing.
As of Thursday night, reported Ichud Hatzalah, there were relatively few of cases of injuries. All cases were treated at a mobile clinic that was set up on site and there was no need to evacuate anyone to hospital.
The volunteers will remain at the compound until Friday afternoon and then will leave for Shabbat. They will return Saturday night and remain until late Sunday night, when the last of the worshipers leave the area.
