Most of the major indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange ended the trading week, Thursday, with modest to moderate gains. The TA Composite Index closed at 1,065.19, up .79 percent, while the TA 100 rose three quarters of a percent to 1,073.65, including a six-tenths of a percent advance to 1,209.74 by the Maof 25 most-widely advanced issues. The 50 stocks just outside the TA 100 rose 1.35 percent to 395.30.
The insurance index led the gainers, leaping 3.04 percent to 1.062.80 as the financial institutions finished the day at 994.45, up 1.64 percent, including a 1.06-percent rise by the bank issues to 1,101.43. Next came the oil and-natural gas stocks, which closed at 1,124.12, up 1.81 percent, while the biomed index climbed 1.46 percent to 785.87 and the rest of the technology issues stood at 337.36, up .45 percent. The Ma'ala organization's socially-responsible companies rose 1.01 percent to 837.04, while the real-estate stocks finished the day at 283.74, up .89 percent, and the communications and media index advanced .66 percent to 505.65.
