On Tuesday Bnei Akiva head Danny Hirschberg said he has been invited to speak at a memorial for slain Prime Minister Yitzchak Rabin and plans to take part. Youth in the Itamar branch of Bnei Akiva sent a letter to Hirschberg Wednesday urging him to reconsider.
“As Prime Minister, Yitzchak Rabin worked to create an Arab entity that strives unceasingly to destroy the state of Israel,” youth wrote. “The guns that Yitzchak Rabin gave the Arabs were used, and continue to be used, in lowly acts of killing and murder of Jewish residents of Israel.”
“There is no room, not even in the name of the desire to feel a part of the nation of Israel, to take part in an event in which they glorify the name, actions and legacy of a man who left just one legacy: national defeatism and the offering of ‘sacrifices for peace’ on the alter of Oslo,” they concluded.
