Oy Division, a band comprised of young Israeli musicians from Tel Aviv, will tour the country with long-time musical collaborator, Psoy Korolenko from Russia. Oy Division performs traditional klezmer songs in their original style with fiddles, clarinets, and accordions. But they also promise to play "multilingual klezmer-world-disco-ska-punk-rap-style fusion based on new renderings, translations and remakes of good old Yiddishist, Russian and world hits."
They are known for their Yiddish versions of songs by the Rollings Stones and others and are advertising that they will perform the works of "Arkady Severny, Pesach Burstyn (the father of American theater star Mike Burstyn), The Beatles, and Franz Schubert." They will perform Oct 25th in Tel Aviv, Oct. 27th in Beersheva, Oct 29th in Haifa and Oct 30th in Jerusalem.
