Iran said, Monday evening, that it is willing to resume negotiations with Western powers over its nuclear development program.

Deputy Chairman Ali Bagheri of the Islamic Republic's National Security Council said that the Tehran government submitted proposals to Western representatives but received no response. He added, "The strategy of applying pressure and sanctions is useless and irrational."
