A senior official in the United Nations peacekeeping force said on Monday that the organization was preparing to send peacekeeping troops to Syria, in case a cease-fire in the country is agreed upon.

According to the official, Hervé Ladsous, it is too early to know the size of the peacekeeping force that would be deployed in such a situation.
