The Syrian government earlier this month sent a letter to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, in which it expressed its displeasure over the international sanctions being imposed on the country, it was reported on Monday. "These sanctions primarily affect the children," Syria’s ambassador to the UN, Bashar Jaafari, wrote in the letter. "The ban imposed on national banks affected the import of vaccines for children, the availability of medication and the prices of medical equipment.”
