Education Minister Gid'on Sa'ar was recognized as a notable person of the settlement enterprise, Sunday evening, during a tribute to the education system in the Samaria (Shomron) Jewish community of Karnei Shomron. A certificate of appreciation cited Sa'ar "for substantial contribution to the development of educational institutions in Judea and Samaria, his devotion to increasing Jewish and Zionist consciousness, his activities to connect Israeli children to values and tradition and his determined support of Jewish settlement in Judea and Samaria."
Thanking the local education system for its part in his achievements, the minister said, "Without settlement, there is no security. We saw, in the past, how hurting settlement led to damage to security. Heaven forbid that we should return to the notion that if we uproot Jews from a certain place there will be more security. On the contrary - there will be less security." He concluded, "Settlement is not just the interest of the settlers but of all the people of Israel. It's the exercise of our right to the land of Israel and the realization and strengthening of the state of Israel and its citizens to national security."
