President Shimon Peres called Sunday to make higher education free for everyone. “Equal access to higher education isn’t just a social need, but an existential need for the state of Israel,” he declared.

The academic school year began Sunday. More than 300,000 students are enrolled in Israeli colleges and universities this year.
