Home Front Command officer Colonel Alon Gellert spoke to Arutz Sheva on Sunday as the Home Front Command began a major earthquake preparedness drill. The Home Front command prepares for both man-made disasters and natural disasters, he said, “The central natural disaster in this case is an earthquake.”

Israel is located on the Syrian-African fault line, he noted. “We know that a major earthquake this roughly once every century, and we have to get ready for it.”

The best thing to do if an earthquake hits is to get outdoors, he added.
