At 11 a.m. a major government drill on earthquake preparedness began. The drill, which will continue until Thursday, will see first response teams and rescue workers react as if Israel was hit by a major earthquake and then a tsunami.

The public is asked to take part as well by either going to an open area or entering a protected space within their home or place of work, as they would do in case of an earthquake.
