Syria has rejected suspicions that it was involved in the assassination Friday of General Wissan al-Hassan, the intelligence chief of Lebanon’s Internal Security Forces. Hassan was linked to the anti-Damascus camp in Lebanon.

Syrian Foreign Ministry spokesman Jihad Makdissi said it would have made no sense for Syria to want to kill Hassan, who, he said, helped to uncover 30 Mossad cells in Lebanon. Makdissi called to wait for the outcome of an investigating into Hassan’s death before placing blame.
