The Homefront Command of the Israel Defense Forces is scheduled to hold its Turning Point 6 national exercise on Sunday. For the first time, the drill will focus on the country's preparedness for earthquakes in conjunction with the police and fire departments, other government agencies - including 250 local governments and the Magen David Adom (MDA) emergency service. MDA, which usually offers its services abroad in case of disasters, will practice being on the receiving end.
At 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., civilians will be asked to act in accordance with the Homefront Command's instructions for earthquake behavior, which will be delivered via breaks in radio and television programming, as well as message to cellular telephones. In general, people in buildings are advised to get out and get away if they can or find safe places, such as shelters, inside. Motorists are advised to stop as safely as they can and stay in their cars until the shaking stops.
