Israel Congratulates Colombia on Peace Talks

Israel congratulated Colombia, Thursday, on the opening of peace talks in Norway with the FARC (Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia) rebel group. The negotiations, which got underway at an undisclosed location, are expected to take a few months. If they succeed, FARC will give up its weapons.

An Israeli statement expressed hope that the talks would be fruitful and lead to the end of decades of violence by the underground group and result in peace, stability and prosperity for the South American country.
