Minister of the Interior Eli Yishai, the head of the Shas party, gave his first public response Wednesday to the possible return of Aryeh Deri to the party.
“Torah wisdom will decide in this matter, and I will obey,” said Yishai, as he left morning prayers at the synagogue headed by Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, Shas’ leader. “Torah will determine everything.”
Deri, who was forced out of politics due to a bribery conviction, would return as head of the party, pushing Yishai to the number two slot.
