The Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee met, Monday, to discuss the nation's draft policy in wake of the expiration of the Tal Law, which provided exemptions for certain members of hareidi-religious community. Joining Defense Minister Ehud Barak at the meeting was former defense minister Shaul Mofaz.
Referring to the drafting of students from the hareidi comunity, alternate committee member Moshe Gafni got angry at those in attendance and said, "Don't be hostile to the hareidi public. I know that you want to make political capital out of the yeshiva boys. Even if a secular government arises, no prime minister will take this step of forced induction of hareidim."
