Ariel to PM: Another Hearing on Dairy Prices

Chairman Uri Ariel of the Knesset State Control Committee asked Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, Monday, to hold another hearing on the decision by the Treasury and the Agriculture Ministry to raise the target price of milk, which influences the price of dairy products. Speaking at a committee hearing on the state comptroller's report on government oversight of food prices, the National Union lawmaker said, "Mutual responsibility and helping the weak, as Israeli society strives to do, according to Jewish and universal values, requires a change that will put a bigger burden on the stronger [sectors] and significant help to the weak."

Ariel said the committee will hold urgent meetings with Minister of Industry, Commerce and Labor Shalom Simchon, Treasurer Yuval Steinitz and Agriculture Minister Orit Noked, as well as with Netanyahu, to stop the rising prices of milk and dairy products.
