Knesset Winter Session Expected to Open and Close Today

The Knesset is expected to vote, Monday, to pass a bill, approved by the cabinet on Sunday, to dissolve and schedule elections for January 22nd. Some feel that the bill may be amended to make the elections later to give the political parties more time to prepare.

Before the vote on dissolution, ceremonies tied to the opening of the winter session will take place, including speeches by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, President Shim'on Peres, Opposition Leader Shaul Mofaz and leaders of other factions.
